Thoiry's "Sou des Ecoles" - SITUATION AND OUTLOOK

What will become of the "sou des écoles" in one year ?

Over half of the current members, having children in CM2, will leave and if new members do not join already this year the future of the association is in jeopardy. That is why we hope that many of you will come to the next
 
General Assembly

Presentation of the accounts, recap of the year 2009-2010, projects for the year 2010-2011 and election of a new executive committee.
The meeting will be followed by an informal drink


What does it do ? Provides essential financial aid to the pupils of the primary school and nursery in Thoiry so that they can participate in educational, cultural and sporting projects created by the teachers.  

How does it work ?
With :
- The members of the executive committee (At least twelve parents along with teachers and directors from the schools) elected during the general assembly.
- Parent volunteers who help as and when they can at the various
events.

With what means ?
- Subscriptions from the parents.
- Subsidies coming from the "mairie de Thoiry" and also occasionally from other private sources (Migros and the CC Val Thoiry for example).
- The events organised by the "sou des écoles":
    - Bingo in autumn, December (toys&games) and spring.
    - Carnival.
    - Christmas and Easter markets
    - car-boot sale
    - School open day.
- Donations from individuals and companies.

What does it finance ?
All activities for the nursery children: Shows, sporting activities, school outings...
Pays 25€ per child to the school cooperative to finance activities and outings.
Finances class projects according to requests from the teachers.
Participates in the purchasing of expensive material such as skis, snow shoes, bikes,....

In 2009-2010, the "sou des écoles" gave  22,000 euros
to the schools to finance pupils' activities. 

Class projects financed in 2009-2010:

- Multi-sport camp for one CM1 and one CM2 (Exceptional allocation of 3000€)
- Judo training sessions (Exceptional allocation of  670€) for four classes of CP pupils
- Percussion session (Exceptional allocation 400€) for two classes (CE2/CM1 and CM1)
- Discovery class for two classes from the "grande section" (Exceptional allocation 2000€).
- Outing to the circus at Annecy (760€)
- Visit to the farm at Follon plus transport (1900€).
- Visits from the FRAPNA to the "maternelle" (2700€).
- Story-telling show for all the "maternelle" (2040€).
- Tennis training sessions (350€) for the pupils of one class in the "grande section"

Contributions from pupils' parents!
At the beginning of the school year, you will be asked to pay a subscription fee. Payment of this makes you a member of the association and your child will benefit from its activities. In the primary school this fee is handed directly to the school cooperative, and in the nursery it is used to finance outings and shows.
At each event, you will receive relevant information and a request for help, asking you to bake a cake or help arrange the "Salle des fêtes" or whatever. All help is very much appreciated, and the work is always undertaken in an atmosphere of fun.
